You Are More Than Enough:
Paisley’s Alphabet Affirmations

In a world where words can uplift or wound, help or hurt, encourage or discourage, my daughter, Paisley, shines brightly as a bubbly and energetic nine-year-old. Full of life and self-expression, she embraces each day with enthusiasm and curiosity. Yet, like all children, she has encountered hurtful words that dimmed her radiant spirit and made her feel inadequate, casting shadows on her self-worth, which could last a lifetime. It’s in these moments of vulnerability that the importance of self-affirmation becomes clear.

This book, You Are More Than Enough: Paisley’s Alphabet Affirmations, is a heartfelt journey inspired by Paisley’s experiences and my commitment as her mother to ensure that she knows that she is more than enough no matter what any other person thinks or says. Through this story, I aim to remind every girl and woman that no one else has the power to define who you are. You hold the key to your self-worth, and affirmations can be the empowering tools to reclaim your voice.

Explore how Paisley learns to combat negativity with positivity and helps a sad little girl feel happy about herself after being taunted. She teaches a group of girls, including not so nice ones, her Alphabet Affirmations. With a touch of creativity, Paisley adds rhythm and movement to her affirmations, and the girls sing and dance as they learn and build self-confidence and a new appreciation of themselves.

Let this story inspire you to sing the Alphabet Affirmations every day. Together, we can create a world where every girl knows her worth and celebrates her individuality.

Engage Us or Enrage Us: Schools Make The Difference

A story centered on two little boys’ varied experiences in school, ENGAGE US OR ENRAGE US: Schools Make the Difference takes readers on a journey that simultaneously ignites excitement and apathy. Ronnie enthusiastically recalls engaging experiences and strong relationships at school, while triggering feelings of dread and despair as Jonnie realizes that engagement and strong relationships are not a part of his school experience. Ronnie and Jonnie are similar in many ways, but their experiences at school produce different outcomes. Each experience causes tears; Jonnie sheds “mad” tears on the first day of school and Ronnie sheds “sad” tears on the last day of school. This story illustrates the impact engagement has on students.

The ABCs of Black History

This book is ideal for young learners and those who are tasked with teaching and guiding them into an enhanced understanding of history. At the age of 6, Master Derrick Henry, Jr., was asked to participate in a celebratory presentation for a Black History Show at his school by giving a speech. His parents’ research efforts to find a poem suitable for the occasion that succinctly captured the width and breadth of the nuanced and extraordinary contributions of African Americans were unsuccessful. They decided to compose an original piece together but Derrick’s mom’s creative writing skills took over. She meticulously composed the poem, The ABCs of Black History, while Derrick’s dad (a former history teacher) methodically taught him the meaning of each line, one letter at a time. Subsequently, Master Derrick Henry, Jr. performed the piece at his school, community events and at the President’s Assembly at Bethune-Cookman University. His performance and the content of the poem received raving reviews and a viral outbreak on social media. With this literary offering, you will experience the live poem (QR code); view beautiful vector illustrations; and gain an understanding of each lyrical phrase. The ABCs of Black History’s Creation, Illustrations, Inspiration, Explanations and Affiliation will take you on an unforgettable, educational and inspirational journey.
